FIRST ANNUAL ALUMNI WEEKEND - A SUCCESS!
The first Alumni Weekend September 30 - October 2 was a huge success, in spite of the wet weather. The football game against Southern Columbia was so exciting - you could feel the energy of the fans. The 1 point loss was heart-breaking. From the tailgating prior to the game Friday night to the farewell breakfast on Sunday morning, there was an exchange of memories, smiles, and laughter. There were family reunions and class reunions, there were tours of the high school and tours of Lewisburg, a movie at the newly renovated Campus
Theater, and a wonderful cocktail party generously sponsored by a Lewisburg grad.

ELECTION DAY SPAGHETTI DINNER
What other words could ever describe the spaghetti sauce for our Election Day Spaghetti Dinners????? It could also be said that the sauce prepared for the dinner on May 17th was the “best they ever made”. A total of 350 people were served, with proceeds of $1797.00. As a comparison we served 342 people in May 2010 and made $1863.00. There were additional
out-of-pocket expenses for the 2011 dinner.

And just who are the cooks in the kitchen??? – Ang Giunta ’58, who originated the idea when he was the Alumni Association President in 1995, Dave Powell ’60 (past president), Glen Roush ’56, Bill James ’68, John Donahoe ’58 (one of our newest Board members), Dick Pursell ’61, Holly Brown Barbella ’97, Char Yurkoski Gray ’76, Julie Voneida Borys ’61, Barbara Haines Selsam ’58, Jim Wetzel ’58, and Myrna Perkins, the school board representative to the Alumni Association. A sincere thank you also goes to Joyce Wetzel Gessner ’72 who is the middle school’s food service coordinator who not only helps in the preparation but makes sure everything is all cleaned up in the kitchen before we leave.

The spaghetti dinners are the sole fund-raising activity for the Alumni Association. The proceeds are used to pay for projects for the high school and to send our annual newsletter to all LAHS grads. We can always use HELPING HANDS in the kitchen, dining area, and as greeters. Show up with apron in hand at 3:00 at the Middle School kitchen on Tuesday, November 1st, or later for clean-up. Everyone else can arrive with hearty appetites
from 5:00 to 7:00 (after voting of course!).

The next Spaghetti Dinner will be held on Election Day, November 8, 2011 (the Tuesday after the first Monday in November).
Another Spaghetti Dinner will be held April 24, 2012 (Pennsylvania Primary Elections). Mark your calendars.

SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED:
A total of fourteen $1000 scholarships has been awarded to 7 graduating seniors and
7 LAHS post-grads. Those seniors receiving the scholarships are: Crystal Erb, Michael Geise, Karyn Hosler, Jade Kerstetter, Disneyanna Ledda, Emily Lesher, and William VanPatter.
The seven graduate scholarships were awarded to: Jamie Eggleton '08, Laura Kerlin '08, Bethany Smith '08, Jared Smith '10, Nathaniel Vaji '10, Allison Zimmerer Rivera '03, and
Erin Zimmerer '00.
